Kedarkantha (3,810 m / 12,500 ft) in Govind Pashu Vihar National Park, Uttarkashi is one of the most rewarding winter treks in India. The trail passes through snow-covered pine forests, frozen Juda Ka Talab lake and alpine meadows. The summit offers stunning 360° panoramic views of the western Himalayas. Perfect for first-time and seasoned trekkers alike.
Pick up from Dehradun ISBT. Drive to Sankri via Mussoorie, Barkot and Mori (approx. 8–9 hrs). Trek briefing and equipment check. Acclimatisation walk. Overnight at Sankri guest house.
Begin trek from Sankri (approx. 4 km / 4–5 hrs) through dense oak and pine forests. Camp at Juda Ka Talab — a frozen lake surrounded by towering pines, magical in winter. Afternoon acclimatisation walk. Overnight in camps.
Trek through snow-covered meadows to Kedarkantha Base Camp (approx. 4 km / 3–4 hrs). Direct views of the summit. Hot soup, rest, and evening briefing for summit day. Overnight in camps.
Early start at 2:00 AM. Ascend to Kedarkantha summit (approx. 4.5 km / 4–5 hrs). Sunrise: 360° panoramic views of Swargarohini, Bandarpunch, Kala Nag and the Gangotri range. Descend to Hargaon camp. Total trail: approx. 14 km.
Trek back to Sankri through rhododendron forest (approx. 5 km / 3 hrs). Certificate distribution ceremony. Hot showers available. Celebration dinner. Overnight at Sankri guest house.
After early breakfast, drive back to Dehradun (approx. 8–9 hrs). Drop at ISBT / Railway Station. Trek ends — with a summit certificate and unforgettable Himalayan memories.
