Sandakphu (3,636 m / 11,930 ft) is one of the most iconic Himalayan treks in India. The trail through Singalila National Park offers jaw-dropping views of four of the world's five highest peaks. The trek traverses rhododendron forests, alpine meadows and charming Sherpa villages. Best done October to April.
Pick up from NJP. Drive to Manebhanjan (6,400 ft / approx. 3.5 hrs) — the trek base. Briefing & gear distribution. Begin trek to Chitrey (4 km / 3 hrs) through oak and rhododendron forest. Overnight at Chitrey trekkers' hut.
Trek to Tumling (approx. 12 km / 5–6 hrs) via Meghma village and Chitre Danda ridge. First views of Kanchenjunga (weather permitting). Enter Singalila National Park. Overnight in Tumling.
The most rewarding day (approx. 14 km / 6–7 hrs). Pass Garibas and Kalipokhri (Black Lake). Final steep ascent to Sandakphu summit. 360° views of Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu — the iconic Sleeping Buddha. Overnight at Sandakphu.
Sunrise from Sandakphu — one of the most celebrated Himalayan vistas. Trek to Phalut (approx. 21 km / 7–8 hrs) along the Singalila ridge. Sweeping panoramic views throughout. Overnight at Phalut.
Descend through dense rhododendron and magnolia forests to Gorkhey (approx. 13 km / 5–6 hrs). Short climb to Rimbick — a vibrant Nepali village. Overnight in Rimbick.
After breakfast, drive from Rimbick to NJP / Bagdogra (approx. 4.5 hrs). Trek ends — with stories to last a lifetime.
